Today was eventful. My mom talked me into going to 'work' with her. Ever since she got laid off last October, she has been volunteering, now working, at the Good Shepard Catholic Church in Cumming. I woke up this morning expecting to just meet some really old, cranky people and to have plenty of time to finish rereading The Two Towers. I was definitely way off!
I swear my mom is doing four times as much work as she is getting paid for. It actually kinda pissed me off that she is the only one at this pastoral office that does anything. It's like, just because she is the 'new' person she gets the 'opportunity,' more like an obligation, to do everything. Kinda like she is paying her dues before she can have authority--although I'm not sure how much authority one can have in a country, pastoral office.
I am happy that I went with her today. I did not enjoy running off and folding 600 copies of the weekly newsletter, but I feel like I can relate to my mom more. It really helped me to see her react with others in a pressure filled environment outside of our house: I feel like I know her better.
