Update time.  We've had Deci for just over a month now and he's adjusted to our home very quickly. Ry was sold immediately, but it's taken me some time to form a real bond with the kitten. He's 4 months old today. Ry is very much the alpha male who establishes boundaries of what Deci is and isn't allowed to do. I'm more the nurturing side, who also happens to be the keeper of his food. He is growing very quickly. He can sit up into a tiny footprint, but don't let that fool you. He's very long!  He also has boundless energy and is incredibly athletic.  He has even figured out how to perch himself on top of the scratching post we bought him!

Here are some pictures I've taken along the way:

I've also been keeping busy with my marathon training schedule.  So far this year, I've run five races (I need to run nine to qualify for ING for 2013).  My schedule has me clearing ~70 miles a month now.  I have a 10K tomorrow in Central Park, a couple of small 4 mile races after that and then the Brooklyn Half Marathon in the middle of May.  I'm really excited about this race because it ends at Coney Island.  Apparently there is a huge festival put up on the boardwalk too, just for the runners and their families.  I guess we'll see!

Part of the race requirements to qualify for the 2013 marathon is to volunteer to work a race.  I didn't get into the NYC Half Marathon (a neat course that loops Southern Manhattan, drawing by lottery only), so I decided to work it to be a part of the excitement.  I was assigned to the first water station.  Ryan drove me to Central Park to show up for my shift at 4 in the morning that Sunday morning.  We spent three hours setting up water and making trash cans full of Gatorade to pass out to the the 15,000 runners at the Mile 1 marker (only 12.1 miles to go!).  But then the race started!  It took an hour for all of the runners to clear through our station (NYRR had set up corrals to control traffic, so each corral was released at staggered times to avoid overcrowding), but we got to see all of the pros come through, running sub 5 minute miles.  It was amazing to witness, I literally could not believe my eyes, watching these amazing athletes race past.  Here are what pictures I could take in the moment, while still passing out Gatorade:

That's about it.  This year has all been about focusing on just Ryan and I setting up our home together.  I'm also focused on paying off my student loans (hopefully!), which means we have cut down on travel significantly.  I haven't stepped on a plane at all in the past three months, which has to be a new record for me!  Work still continues in the same vein, there is still a possibility that our team could be let go after our revenue guarantee expires next March.  But we'll see what happens.  All in all, life is good!  :)
