Band camp is now officially over. Looking back, it was a wonderful experience once again.

It's raining right now.

I love the rain. It's great duck weather, as my mom used to say.

When I was a little girl, my mom taught me and my brother (my brother and I?) to watch the window as soon as it started to rain. If it was pouring, no parental-child roles held and all three of us would rush outside, eager to get soaking wet. We would sit outside in our front yard, or just outside our car, or wherever we happened to be, and slowly be consumed by nature. Even if we were in the middle of a strip mall, the rain made me feel like I was in a private glen somewhere, in my own paradise. The rain washes everything away; it cleanses one's spirit.

As I sit here completely drenched from pracitcing in the pouring rain all day, I feel connected. I am seven again.

To allude to Robert Frost, "One could do worse than be out in the rain."
