I just got back to my room after a very emotional day. :)

So let's start from the end and work backwards, shall we?
Indeed:

We had a PCI for the FTX tonight in Sanchez's room. (Oh yeah...another rotation with Sanchez as the SqdLdr... meh, it won't be too bad. Especially since now I understand her personality more than I did two months ago.) So in other words, we had a pre-combat inspection for the field training exercise this weekend. It is going to be a full rotc nazi week. But I figure if I take things one hour at a time I will be fine. Sanchez went through all of our equipment and whatnot, briefed us as she is supposed to, and then we all just sat around and talked. Good ol' fourth squad. It's so nice to have another family on campus. We talked about the Rangers' Challenge this week: Meloni and Breslin were about ready to die, but they had some great stories. Then Sidwell brought out pictures she had taken and that was hilarious; she caught all of us in some pretty compromising positions, to say the least. :) She also had a picture for each one of us from the impromptu camo initiation from when we went paintballing. Fun stuff! I have the biggest grin on my face, just waiting for Kramer to make me look like a complete fool. On the way back up to upper, Meloni and I were making fun of the freshmen guys. They are so gung-ho about rotc, and we like giving them a hard time. Course, they are freshmen and need something to latch onto away from home, but c'mon guys! Getting camo-ed up for the Navy game?! Just to show your Army pride?! As Meloni said, "Oh my... could you be anymore gay?! Fuckin'...I just can't believe you guys!" Exactly.

This weekend was great. I noticed coming back to campus from the airport today that it has felt so long, I've had a vacation of sorts. And I think it's because I got about 14 hours of sleep total this weekend, when I normally get about 40. The cool thing is, I'm not really tired. I usually sleep for about 6 hours, eventually through naps and whatnot, each day, and it works out. :)

I feel like I made better use of my time by being up... And I know that sounds so trivial, but to me, ever since I started SROTC, sleep is the most valuable thing ever. That's right, ever! Okay, well maybe not ever, but y'know what I mean. I love to sleep.

Logan came to visit me this weekend, and I don't even know where to start. Besides being completely flattered the entire time because he had taken the time and effort (read: money) to come see me, everything was as it should be. And yes, it will be a challenge being away from him. But, life is a challenge. What would life be without challenges? That's right, pointless and boring. Y-u-c-k. No thank you. (Is it obvious that I saw Fight Club and Pulp Fiction both for the first time this weekend? Indeed, Logan was behind it.) I wasn't even upset at the airport this afternoon: I know I will see him again soon, and that things will be as they were this weekend: perfect. He got along real well with Michelle, as well as the other 2nd Ronc girls. I think what I like the most is the fact that him staying with me was a taste of what things will be like in the future. He and I are serious about each other--we have a joke with Michelle about her having a white toaster oven on lay-a-way for us already. :) And that's cool: I love the stability he provides me. But of course, not as much as I love him. :)
