Wow. I haven't had an afternoon like this in quite awhile...
It's nice.
...finally, after all of the crazy back-and-forth weather we've had lately, it's a beautiful day in Boston! I am one happy girl! :) Plus, today is when all of the masses leave. After 5pm tonight, the campus will be closed to everyone not in extended programs.
::sigh::
It's not that I'm happy everyone is leaving. No, that's not it. I miss Anna, who left yesterday morning to return to DE --- Delawhere??? ;) Kirstin left this afternoon, going back to PA. Natalie is in NY for a bit. Flora is out and about with her Dad, who came up here to take some of her stuff back to San Anto. So it's just me and Michelle... in our now-bare room. Bare, you ask? Yes, indeed, for the most part. Michelle's Dad came this past weekend to take as much of her stuff as possible out of the room, to make it easier for us when we have to switch dorms tomorrow. Plus, we had a fun adventure with storage yesterday. The University Storage changed handlers, so there was this whole new system this year. Last year, it was relatively simple. They arranged a time for the entire dorm, and on that day you just brought your stuff out to the truck. Not complicated at all. Well, this year, no such luck. The truck was only making one stop for all of upper campus. Because the storage elves love me, the dorm they were stopping at was in the middle of upper... across the street, up those God-forsaken stairs, and there you are. Not too far...really...unless you happen to be carrying something insanely heavy...such as a tv, perhaps? That weighs 80 pounds?? Or if it was raining, maybe?? Originally I had arranged for Nicole, a fellow band geek, who happened to be our RA this year, to help get my crap up there, as she was going to have a car. Well, plans changed, and her parents came up a day early to help her move out. So there went my ride. Thus, I was left with my seven, mostly insanely heavy boxes/bins/trunk and no way to get to upper. So I, having the coolest friends, recruited help to shlep everything up there: Kirstin, Flora (and her Dad!!), and Michelle all helped, and after two trips, we finally got everything up there. Yeah, it was way exhausting, but I don't have much of an option, y'know? My tv, stereo, and the like definitely do not fit in a suitcase. ;) It was worth it though. Storage this year was half of what it cost last year. Yay!
And here we are, waiting. It's kinda eerie, I have to admit: everything finally being over, done with another year, far, far from home; dodging piles of trash in the hallways; watching the number of shower caddies on the communal bathroom floor we all shared this year slowly decline; finding out just how many girls I never even knew lived on my hall; being mistaken for Michelle for the second time in the past week (we're sisters don't you know, both of us being 1/16 Irish and all.... yeah, that's it...). Only the seniors will be here for their week of activities before commencement next Monday. Plus us cool kids: Natalie, who is doing summer session, Flora who got a job with the AHANA summer program, and of course the band nerds, plotting to revamp the marching band program in the coming week.
The campus will soon be ours again.
Quiet.
Sleepy.
