Aye. Finally made it into work today. You see, I woke up late, which translated into my taking a five minute shower, throwing on make up and almost-dry-but-still-damp clothes, and then trying to make my way out the garage door to the car without killing myself. ...I have this nasty habit of not being able to walk in heels until I've been up for a few hours or so.
Last night my brother took me to Best Buy, and I bought so much music!! I got five out of the seventeen records I need to have in my collection before the end of the summer, according to my mental list, anyway:
-Chicago soundtrack
-Ani D's new one, Evolve
-Audio Slave, self-titled
-Fight Club soundtrack
-a '97 Cirque du Soleil collection
This morning I decided to listen to Ani D first, more out of curiousity than anything else. And I'm here to tell you, it's not a good idea to be driving when one first listens to that record. Honestly, it's a wonder I made it to work at all. There were so many moments when I felt like stopping the car and sobbing, this collection of music is so sad. The crazy thing is, it's not generic, my-boyfriend-dumped-me-I-have-a-hangnail sad, oh no! it's tormented, please-leave-me-alone sad. I managed to get through all twelve tracks, although I feel as though I've aged twenty-seven years in the process.
::sigh::
I feel more shocked than anything else. Evolve is such a misleading title. Well, my interpretation was misleading. I'm actually looking forward to the second listen through, when I drive home today (don't want to bring that one into the office, I might start bawling at my desk, which would be bad... very bad...), so I can catch everything I missed the first time. :)
