In the wake of such terrible things happening abroad, especially in such starck contrast to the G8, there is a calm paranoia in new york. Everywhere are policia blockades in any public place where crowds are prone to gather: shopping centers, mass transit, even banking centers. There is a fear that there could be a repeat, which would be ironic since ground zero is just now somewhat completed as a memorial. But I think it has more to do with the memories that are recalled. There is a deja vu rewind to the patriotic car magnets and american flag pins.
Para mi, I've been keeping some good memories in mind as I pass through all of the Security!! Something real and tangible that makes me smile amongst such an anxiety twitch:
The hermano, getting ready to move up to Wake Forest in the coming month. My baby, growing up.
The koalito's papa as a monkey, thanks to Kodak endorsed Epcot fun.
