I was lucky enough to finally qualify to run the NYC Half Marathon yesterday. It took me three years, but I finally got in by running 4/5 borough half's last year. Given our schedule this year, I won't be able to repeat that with family obligations, which made this race that much more special. It was a cold race, only 30 degrees at the start. We had to wait for an hour in the corrals prior to starting, I couldn't feel my hands or feet until 4 miles in! It was an awesome course though, one lap of Central Park, then down 7th Ave through Times Square. Then we crossed to the West Side Highway, taking it past Chelsea Piers, the Meatpacking District, Wall St, Ground Zero and into the Battery Tunnel. Once we were out of the tunnel, we headed up to the South Street Seaport and ended near City Hall downtown.

This was my first high profile race, where the Olympians/pros come out for the $20k prizes for each gender placing first. I was on ABC twice, and felt the thrill of running through Times Square with Sinatra blasting, what a rush!

While it wasn't my best race, I feel so happy to have run it. One more thing off the bucket list!

Here are some pictures I managed to take during the race:
